TAG! YOU'RE IT!

WE ARE HERE!!!

We have had our first full week in Swaziland! We are getting settled in our new home and have enjoyed an amazing “Welcome” from our Swazi family! We could NOT be here without you, and we are grateful for your prayers and support. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

I wanted to share some thoughts that I’ve had this past week.

Many of you have asked us, “WHY would you move your family to Swaziland, Africa?”. We’ve asked ourselves and Jesus these very questions, “Are you sure? Did we REALLY hear you? Would you ask THIS of us?”.

As, I am writing this today, I am asking these questions, AGAIN, from our living room, as the sun rises...IN AFRICA. I always hear the same answer. You’d think I’d get it by now. It is always this, “Chase Jesus”.

Chase Him? Is He running? Does He want to be caught? He goes places I’m not sure I want to go. Isn’t He already here? The answer to all of those is, YES!

Jeremiah 29:13-14 says this, “And you will seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with ALL your heart. ‘And I will be found by you’, declares the Lord….” (Emphasis mine) I could easily list ten more verses about seeking and finding! Think He’s trying to tell us something?

Sounds like playing tag to me! He is asking us to ‘SEEK AND FIND”!!!

Over the years, I’ve discovered there are a multitude of facets to God’s personality. I, personally, have always seen a very playful side to Jesus, in scripture and particularly in my dreams. We are playing tag, hide and seek, laughing. He has held me in His lap, or even swung me by the arms, spinning me around in a circle. FAST. Did I mention I am an adult in these dreams? Eli says, “Mom, He climbs trees, plays football, all while painting the sunset.”

My point is, Jesus wants to be found. He’s adventurous. He’s playful. He never meant for us to be stagnant, bored, complacent and comfortable. Seek means, “to desire, or search.” In order to search for something, you have to MOVE. He wants us to move, maybe not to Africa, but move. Take action. Choose. Do. Become. Increase. We cannot do these things by being safe or fearful. If you are afraid, (I’m always afraid!) DO IT AFRAID!!!!

This is what Barry and I want you to take away from sharing our journey with you. If our family can do this, so can YOU. You name the emotion, we’ve felt it. You name the fear, we’ve walked it. You have doubts, we have too. If it seems too crazy, it is. But that’s just it…Chasing Jesus CAN AND WILL feel crazy. Sometimes, it’s dark and you can’t see Him and you wonder if He is there at all. But, can I tell you something? Oh, He’s there. He’s here. He’s everywhere. We see His eyes in the faces of the orphaned. We see His hands touch the sick and heal the broken-hearted. We see the lines of His face in the volunteers and His tears fall from their eyes. We hear His voice in the laughter of children playing. We see His feet go after the “one”. We feel His embrace in the arms of new friends. We feel His tug in the little hands that intertwine in our hands. We chase Him. We find Him. Jesus is consistent. Every. Single. Time. The great thing is, we “GET TO” play tag and chase Jesus every day, IF, we choose.

I encourage you to step out and play too. The first move is always the riskiest. Chase Jesus. Seek Him. Find Him. It is worth the risk to experience the exhilaration of catching Him. I promise He never disappoints.

“And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened.” Jesus

Luke 11:9-10 NASB
